Process
How selling surplus wire works
Four steps from photographs to payment, with no site visit required for most inventories.
Wire and cable only. Statewide South Carolina pickup, no obligation to sell.
Step 1: Send the details and photographs
The quote form on any page asks for the information we actually use: wire type, manufacturer, gauge or size, voltage rating, approximate footage, spool count, condition and location. Photographs do the rest — reel tags, jacket print, cut ends and an overview of the inventory.
If you have a stock list, a spreadsheet or a photograph of a storeroom shelf, send it. Partial information is more useful than none, and we will ask for the specific items we cannot identify.
Step 2: We evaluate the material
Every item is identified by construction: conductor material, insulation type, voltage class and any listing that affects where it can be installed. Footage is confirmed from the tag, a counter reading or a measurement. Condition is assessed from the photographs, and where that is not possible we say what we need.
This is where the difference between product pricing and scrap pricing shows up. A reel of 4/0 XHHW-2 with a legible tag has a resale path; the same weight of unmarked, cut cable does not.
Step 3: You receive a line-item offer
The offer lists each item, what we are paying, and what we are not purchasing. Nothing is averaged into a lump sum, so you can accept part of the evaluation and keep the rest. There is no obligation and no pressure to sell the whole inventory.
For large or undocumented inventories we may request an inspection before finalizing. That is usually a half-day visit and it protects both sides from surprises on pickup day.
Step 4: Pickup and payment
We schedule freight, confirm access requirements and loading equipment, and collect on an agreed date. Payment is made on pickup by the method agreed in advance; we do not ask sellers to ship material before payment.
For facilities with badging, escort or dock scheduling requirements, tell us at the quote stage so the collection is planned around them rather than discovered on the day.
What we need from your site
| Access | Loading dock, roll-up door or yard access for a flatbed |
| Handling | Forklift or reel stand for large reels; we can discuss alternatives if neither is available |
| Documentation | Reel tags or a stock list where available |
| Timing | Operating hours, shift changes and any blackout periods |
| Site rules | PPE, badging, escort and insurance requirements |
| Payment | Agreed before pickup; paid on collection |
What we do not do
We do not buy transformers, switchgear, breakers, panelboards, motors, conduit, tools or general scrap metal. We do not remove energized equipment. We do not make offers that assume a market which does not exist, and we will tell you when a reel is better sold elsewhere.

Tell us what is on the reel
Send the basics and a few photographs. Reel tags, jacket markings and cut ends are usually enough for us to price the material without a site visit.
- Manufacturer or brand, if legible
- Wire type, gauge or size, and voltage rating
- Approximate footage and number of spools
- Photos of reel tags, jacket print and cable ends
