Wire buying

Aluminum Wire Buyers in South Carolina

Aluminum cable moves in bigger volumes and lower dollars per pound than copper, which makes it easy to leave sitting in a yard for years. We buy aluminum building wire, service entrance cable, URD and large feeder conductor by the reel and by the pallet.

Wire and cable only. Statewide South Carolina pickup, no obligation to sell.

Aluminum wire we buy from South Carolina businesses

Service entrance cable is the backbone of our aluminum purchases: SER and SEU in 2/0, 4/0 and 350 MCM, often left over when a service is upsized or a project changes scope. We also buy aluminum XHHW-2 feeders, aluminum URD for underground residential distribution, and aluminum MC cable from commercial jobs.

Aluminum is common in industrial plants for large feeders because the installed cost is far lower than copper at the same ampacity. When a plant reconfigures a line or replaces a service, the removed aluminum feeder is exactly what we want, provided the jacket is intact and the cable has not been sitting in standing water.

What changes the value of aluminum cable

Alloy matters. Modern AA-8000 series aluminum is a different product from the old EC-grade aluminum that caused problems in the 1960s and 1970s, and buyers pay accordingly. Reels marked AA-8000, SER or XHHW-2 are straightforward; unmarked legacy aluminum is evaluated more conservatively.

Footage and continuity matter more than weight. A full 1,000-foot reel of 4/0 SER has a known resale market. The same reel with 300 feet left and a cut jacket is a partial lot, and it is priced as one. We will always tell you which category your material falls into.

Selling mixed aluminum inventory

Plants and distributors typically hold aluminum in several forms at once: a stack of SER cut lengths, a few URD reels, some loose XHHW coils from a feeder pull. We quote those as a single lot with a line-by-line breakdown, so it is clear which items carry the value and which are marginal.

If your aluminum has been stored outdoors, send a photograph of the reel ends. Sun-bleached jackets and corroded conductor ends are normal for yard storage and not automatically disqualifying, but they do affect how the material is classified.

What photographs help us price this fastest

A shot of the reel tag, a close-up of the jacket print, a clear view of the cut end, and one overview photograph of the whole inventory. Four images usually settle every question we have without a site visit.

Questions about selling aluminum wire

Is aluminum wire worth selling?

Yes, when it is identifiable and in usable condition. Aluminum returns less per pound than copper, but large reels of SER, URD or XHHW-2 still carry real value and are actively traded.

Do you buy old EC-grade aluminum wire?

We evaluate it, but legacy EC-grade aluminum has a limited resale market compared with AA-8000 alloy. Send photographs and markings and we will tell you honestly what outlet fits.

Can I sell aluminum wire that was stored outside?

Usually yes. Weathering and oxidation are normal. Value depends on jacket integrity, water intrusion and whether the conductor ends are still sound.

Do you purchase aluminum URD in partial lengths?

Yes, provided the remaining footage can be established. URD is often sold in partial lengths after a subdivision or service upgrade is finished.
