Wire buying

Building Wire Buyers in South Carolina

Building wire is the category that covers most of what an electrical contractor actually stocks: THHN, THWN-2, XHHW-2, MC and AC cable in branch-circuit and feeder sizes. It is also the easiest surplus to accumulate and the easiest to sell.

Wire and cable only. Statewide South Carolina pickup, no obligation to sell.

What counts as building wire

Building wire is the insulated conductor and cable installed inside a structure: single-conductor THHN and XHHW in conduit, MC and AC cable for branch circuits, SER and SEU for services and feeders. It is the largest category of electrical surplus by volume in South Carolina.

We buy all of it, from a single partial spool of 12 AWG to a palletized distributor overstock lot. Copper and aluminum, all colors, all standard sizes.

Contractor shop inventory

A contractor's shop is a museum of project leftovers: half-used spools of 12/2 MC, a 4/0 THHN reel from a service upgrade, three partials of 10 AWG in odd colors, a coil of 8/3 MC nobody remembers buying. Selling that inventory as a lot is usually more practical than trying to sell each item separately.

We quote mixed building wire lots with a line-item breakdown so you can see where the value is, and we will buy the whole lot or just the items worth moving.

Distributor overstock and discontinued stock

Distributors hold slow-moving sizes, discontinued colors and returns from jobs. That inventory ties up capital and shelf space, and it is exactly what we buy. Reel tags and carton labels are usually intact, which makes quoting fast.

For distributor inventories we can work from a stock list and photographs of representative reels, then confirm on pickup.

Questions about selling building wire

Do you buy mixed building wire lots?

Yes, and mixed lots are quoted with a line-item breakdown so you can see which items carry the value.

Is there a minimum quantity?

No fixed minimum, but a lot usually needs enough value to justify freight. Small quantities can often ship instead of requiring a pickup.

Do you buy wire with faded or missing labels?

Yes, based on inspection or additional photographs. Identification is the main constraint, not condition.

Can I sell building wire that was stored in an unconditioned warehouse?

Usually yes. Temperature swings are not a problem for THHN or XHHW; moisture and physical damage are.
