Wire buying

Electrical Wire Reel Buyers in South Carolina

If your wire is still wound on a reel with a tag, you are holding inventory rather than scrap. We buy reels as they sit: full, partial, opened, or stacked in a yard since the last project ended.

Wire and cable only. Statewide South Carolina pickup, no obligation to sell.

What makes a reel worth buying

Three things: what is on it, how much is left, and whether it can still be used. A reel of 4/0 XHHW-2 with a legible tag and a sound jacket is straightforward. A reel of unknown cable with a faded tag and a crushed flange is a conversation.

We quote both, but the offers differ. If you want the best outcome, photograph the reel tag, the jacket print and the cut end before you call.

Partial reels are normal, not a problem

Most reels in a contractor's yard are partial. That is not a defect; it is the nature of project work. We estimate remaining footage from the tag, a counter reading, or by measurement, and we quote accordingly.

The reels that are difficult to sell are the ones with no identification at all, because the buyer cannot confirm what the cable is rated for. Even then, an inspection usually resolves it.

Reels stored outdoors

Outdoor storage is common in South Carolina and not automatically disqualifying. UV exposure degrades jackets over years, and reels standing in water can wick moisture at the ends. Both are visible on inspection and both affect the offer.

If your reels have been outside for a long time, send photographs of the reel ends and the jacket surface. That is where the damage shows first.

What photographs help us price this fastest

A shot of the reel tag, a close-up of the jacket print, a clear view of the cut end, and one overview photograph of the whole inventory. Four images usually settle every question we have without a site visit.

Questions about selling wire reel buyers

Do you buy reels with damaged flanges?

Yes, if the cable is sound. A damaged flange is a handling problem, not necessarily a value problem.

How do you determine remaining footage?

From the reel tag, a footage counter, the weight of the reel, or a physical measurement of the wrap.

Can I sell one reel?

Yes, if the value justifies collection. Large conductor and medium voltage reels usually do.

Do you buy reels stored outside for years?

Yes, subject to inspection of the jacket and the cable ends.
