Wire buying
High Voltage Cable Buyers in South Carolina
Above 35 kV the market narrows sharply, and most buyers will not touch the material. We purchase high voltage solid dielectric cable with documentation, and we will tell you plainly when a reel belongs with a utility rather than a surplus buyer.
Wire and cable only. Statewide South Carolina pickup, no obligation to sell.
What high voltage cable we consider
Solid dielectric cable at 46 kV and 69 kV is the practical upper range for cable rather than overhead transmission. We purchase documented reels of 69 kV cable, plus legacy constructions where the history can be established.
Because the buyer pool is small and the engineering risk is high, documentation matters more here than in any other category. Reel tags, mill certificates and storage records all influence whether a reel is marketable.
Why documentation decides the outcome
High voltage cable degrades if it is stored improperly, bent below its minimum radius, or exposed to moisture at the ends. A reel with no history is difficult to sell to any purchaser who intends to energize it, regardless of how good it looks.
If the documentation is complete, we will quote the reel directly. If it is not, we will explain the options, which may include terminations testing or a different outlet.
An honest answer about scope
Not every high voltage reel is worth buying, and we would rather say so than make an offer that assumes a market that does not exist. If your cable is 115 kV or above, or if it is oil-filled pipe-type cable, tell us what you have and we will point you in the right direction even if it is not a fit for us.
For 46 kV and 69 kV solid dielectric cable with documentation, we are an active buyer in South Carolina.
What we buy in this category
- 69 kV solid dielectric cable
- 46 kV power cable
- XLPE and EPR high voltage cable
- Copper and aluminum high voltage conductor
- Substation tie cable with documentation
- Documented surplus reels with storage history
- Large compact and segmental conductor
- Legacy shielded constructions with records
- Utility and EPC project surplus
- Cut lengths with certified history
- Full reels from cancellations
- Mixed high voltage project inventories
Specifications and buying notes
The table below reflects the constructions we see most often in South Carolina surplus. Variations exist between manufacturers, and the print on the jacket always governs.
| Voltage classes | 46 kV, 69 kV and above (solid dielectric) |
| Insulation | XLPE and EPR with semiconductive screens |
| Shields | Copper tape, wire shield, lead sheath in some legacy constructions |
| Conductor | Copper or aluminum, large compact and segmental |
| Standards | AEIC CS9, ICEA, IEEE 48 terminations |
| Applications | Substation ties, transmission interconnections, large industrial feeds |
| Condition | Documented storage history and undamaged jacket are essential |
| Note | Above 69 kV, cable is uncommon; most transmission is overhead |
What photographs help us price this fastest
A shot of the reel tag, a close-up of the jacket print, a clear view of the cut end, and one overview photograph of the whole inventory. Four images usually settle every question we have without a site visit.
Questions about selling high voltage cable
Do you buy 69 kV cable?
Yes, with documentation covering construction, length and storage history.
What about 115 kV and above?
Cable at those levels is uncommon and usually oil-filled or gas-insulated. Tell us what you have and we will advise on the right outlet.
Why is documentation so important at high voltage?
Because improper storage, bending or moisture exposure can degrade the insulation in ways that are not visible, and any purchaser who intends to energize the cable needs the history.
Can you buy high voltage cable without a reel tag?
Rarely. We would need to establish the construction and history before making an offer.

Tell us what is on the reel
Send the basics and a few photographs. Reel tags, jacket markings and cut ends are usually enough for us to price the material without a site visit.
- Manufacturer or brand, if legible
- Wire type, gauge or size, and voltage rating
- Approximate footage and number of spools
- Photos of reel tags, jacket print and cable ends
