Surplus Wire Buyers for Electrical Distributors in South Carolina

Distributor wire inventory is the cleanest surplus in the market: tagged, documented and usually stored correctly. We buy overstock, discontinued items, returns and complete branch closeouts.

Wire and cable only. Statewide South Carolina pickup, no obligation to sell.

The inventory problem distributors actually have

('The inventory problem distributors actually have', ['Wire is a low-margin, high-volume category, and slow-moving sizes tie up working capital in a way that fasteners and fittings do not. Every branch has reels that have not moved in three years, cut lengths returned from jobs, and colors that a specification change made obsolete.', 'We buy those items at the reel level, with the documentation distributors already keep. A stock list with item, size, length and cost is enough to start.'])

('Discontinued and special-order returns', ['Special-order wire is the hardest inventory to move: a customer ordered 2,500 feet of a specific construction, the project changed, and the reel is now unique. We evaluate special orders individually, because the value depends on how standard the construction really is.', 'Discontinued colors and sizes are more straightforward. If the conductor and insulation are standard, the reel has a market even if the color is not currently stocked.'])

('Branch closures and consolidations', ['When a distributor closes a branch, the wire is usually the last thing to leave because it is heavy and slow. We handle complete wire inventories from closed branches, including palletized small spools and master reels, and we coordinate freight statewide.', 'We buy wire only. Conduit, fittings, fixtures and tools are left for other buyers, and we will say so clearly rather than bundling them into an offer.'])

How this material is evaluated

Three things decide the offer: what the cable is, how much is left, and whether it can still be used. Documentation helps, but it is not a substitute for condition.

Evaluation factors
ConstructionType, insulation, voltage rating and conductor material confirmed from print or tag
FootageReel tag, counter reading or physical measurement
ConditionJacket integrity, moisture at the ends, armor or shield damage
HistoryNever energized, removed from service, or unknown
LogisticsHandling equipment, access restrictions and pickup window
DocumentationReel tags, submittals, test records and storeroom lists
Wire reels of green, yellow and orange cable stored outdoors below a utility substation
Reels and spools as they arrive from plants, distributors and contractors.
Flatbed trailer loaded with large wooden reels of gray industrial cable ready for transport
Full and partial reels are both purchased, priced on construction and footage.
Long row of large wooden cable reels holding black and gray power cable on gravel
Reel tags, jacket print and cut ends tell us what the material is.

Questions from electrical distributors

Do you buy cut lengths from the wire desk?

Yes, generally 50 feet and above, depending on size and construction. Large conductor cut lengths are worth quoting individually.

Can you work from a stock list?

Yes. A list with item, size, length and location lets us return a preliminary offer quickly, followed by verification on pickup.

Do you buy special-order wire?

Yes, evaluated individually. Standard constructions hold value even in unusual lengths; truly custom builds may not.

Do you buy complete branch inventories?

Yes, including palletized and master reel stock.

Tell us what is on the reel

Send the basics and a few photographs. Reel tags, jacket markings and cut ends are usually enough for us to price the material without a site visit.

  • Manufacturer or brand, if legible
  • Wire type, gauge or size, and voltage rating
  • Approximate footage and number of spools
  • Photos of reel tags, jacket print and cable ends
