Wire buying

USE-2 Cable Buyers in South Carolina

USE-2 is single-conductor underground service entrance cable, rated for direct burial and sunlight exposure. Solar, agricultural, utility and service work all generate surplus reels.

Wire and cable only. Statewide South Carolina pickup, no obligation to sell.

Why USE-2 reels are left over

USE-2 is bought for underground services and for solar and agricultural work where a single conductor is run per phase. Because runs are measured, the final reel is often partially used. Those partial reels are exactly what we purchase.

In South Carolina, USE-2 also appears in farm and poultry house work, irrigation systems, and utility service upgrades. Aluminum USE-2 in 4/0 and 350 MCM is common in agricultural service work.

Copper versus aluminum USE-2

Copper USE-2 is used where the service is smaller or where aluminum is not desired. It carries a much higher per-foot value. Aluminum USE-2 in 2/0 through 500 MCM is the volume product for agricultural and utility services.

Both are purchased, quoted separately, and evaluated on the same factors: footage, jacket condition, conductor cleanliness and whether the reel has been exposed to standing water.

Photographing USE-2 for a quote

The reel tag carries the size and footage; the jacket print confirms the type and voltage rating. Photograph both, plus a shot of the conductor end showing whether it is copper or aluminum and whether the strands are corroded.

Single-conductor reels are easy to ship, which makes smaller lots practical to move even from remote parts of the state.

What photographs help us price this fastest

A shot of the reel tag, a close-up of the jacket print, a clear view of the cut end, and one overview photograph of the whole inventory. Four images usually settle every question we have without a site visit.

Questions about selling use-2 cable

Can I sell partial reels of USE-2?

Yes. Single-conductor reels are commonly sold partially used, and partial reels with a few hundred feet remaining are worth quoting.

Is USE-2 the same as URD?

No. USE-2 is a single conductor; URD is typically a twisted multi-conductor assembly. Both are direct-burial rated and both are purchased.

Do you buy USE-2 from solar installations?

Yes. Solar USE-2 and PV wire surplus is purchased, including partial reels and mixed sizes.

What affects USE-2 value most?

Conductor material, size, remaining footage and jacket condition. Water intrusion at the reel ends is the most common defect.
