Wire buying
PLTC Cable Buyers in South Carolina
Power-limited tray cable carries control, signal and instrumentation circuits in tray without conduit. It is small conductor, low voltage and high value per foot, and surplus reels are common in plants with process control systems.
Wire and cable only. Statewide South Carolina pickup, no obligation to sell.
Where PLTC cable is used and why it is left over
PLTC is specified for power-limited control circuits that run in cable tray in industrial facilities, and for Class 1 Division 2 areas where the cable is marked for the location. Integrators buy it in reels, use part of the run, and leave the balance behind when the project closes.
Because the conductor sizes are small, the total copper is modest, but the cable itself is a manufactured product with a defined specification. Quoting it by weight would leave most of the value on the table, which is why we price by construction and length.
Shielded versus unshielded PLTC
Shielded PLTC with a foil or braid shield and drain wire is used for analog signals and for circuits that need noise immunity. Unshielded PLTC is used for discrete control. Conductor count, pairing, and shield type all affect which projects can use the reel.
Send the jacket print and a photograph of the cut end. The print will show the type, voltage rating and temperature rating, and the end shows the conductor colors, pairing and shield.
Selling partial and mixed PLTC reels
Most plants hold several part-used reels rather than one full one. We quote mixed PLTC lots with a line-item breakdown. Even a few hundred feet of a specialized shielded configuration can be worth more than a full reel of generic 18/2.
If the reels have been stored on a rack indoors, condition is usually good. If they were stored outdoors, check for UV cracking in the jacket at the reel ends.

| Configurations | 2 to 24 conductors; pairs and triads common |
| Ratings | PLTC, PLTC-ER, sunlight resistant, Class 1 Div 2 where marked |
| Standards | UL 13, NEC Article 725 |
| Jacket | PVC, CPE or LSZH |
| Packaging | 500 ft and 1,000 ft reels |
What photographs help us price this fastest
A shot of the reel tag, a close-up of the jacket print, a clear view of the cut end, and one overview photograph of the whole inventory. Four images usually settle every question we have without a site visit.
Questions about selling pltc cable
What does PLTC stand for?
Power-limited tray cable: a cable type listed for power-limited circuits installed in cable tray under NEC Article 725.
Do you buy PLTC in short lengths?
Yes, when the construction is specialized enough that the remaining length has value. Generic 18/2 in short lengths is usually combined into a mixed lot.
Is PLTC the same as instrumentation cable?
They overlap. Instrumentation cable is often PLTC-rated, but PLTC is defined by the circuit type and listing rather than by the application.
Can I sell PLTC that was installed in tray and removed?
Yes, if the jacket and shield are intact. Removal damage and UV exposure are the main concerns.

Tell us what is on the reel
Send the basics and a few photographs. Reel tags, jacket markings and cut ends are usually enough for us to price the material without a site visit.
- Manufacturer or brand, if legible
- Wire type, gauge or size, and voltage rating
- Approximate footage and number of spools
- Photos of reel tags, jacket print and cable ends
