Wire buying
Fire Alarm Cable Buyers in South Carolina
Fire alarm cable is a small, specific category with strict listing requirements. Surplus comes from low-voltage contractors and from building renovations, and it is purchased by the box and by the reel.
Wire and cable only. Statewide South Carolina pickup, no obligation to sell.
Fire alarm cable surplus
Low-voltage contractors install fire alarm cable in every commercial renovation. Boxes are opened, partially used and stored. Over a few years a shop accumulates a shelf of FPL and FPLR boxes in 2 and 4 conductor configurations.
Plenum-rated FPLP cable is worth more because of its material cost. Shielded cable used for addressable loops is also purchased.
Listings and why they matter
Fire alarm cable must be listed for the application: FPL for general use, FPLR for risers, FPLP for plenum spaces. Installing the wrong rating is a code violation, so buyers are specific about what they will accept.
Check the print on the jacket before quoting. If a box is marked FPL but you need FPLP, that is a different product with a different value.
How we quote fire alarm cable
Box quantity, rating, conductor count, gauge and shield type determine the offer. Sealed boxes are straightforward. Opened boxes are valued on the remaining length, which can be read from the jacket footage markings.
Mixed lots from a low-voltage contractor are welcome and are quoted line by line.

Questions about selling fire alarm cable
What is the difference between FPL, FPLR and FPLP?
FPL is general-purpose, FPLR is rated for vertical risers, and FPLP is rated for plenum spaces. The rating must match the installation location.
Do you buy opened boxes of fire alarm cable?
Yes, when a meaningful length remains and the jacket print identifies the rating.
Is fire alarm cable worth much?
It is a lower-value category than power cable, but sealed boxes and plenum-rated cable still carry useful value, especially in quantity.
Can I sell fire alarm cable with a missing label?
Only with inspection. The rating is a code requirement and cannot be assumed.
