Wooden reels of black industrial electrical cable stacked on a warehouse floor

Wire buying

Flexible Electrical Cable Buyers in South Carolina

Flexible cable covers a range of products that share one trait: fine-stranded conductor and a jacket built to bend. Automation, robotics and portable power all consume it, and all three leave partial reels behind.

Wire and cable only. Statewide South Carolina pickup, no obligation to sell.

Continuous-flex and automation cable

Robotic cells and automated lines use continuous-flex cable rated for millions of bending cycles. It is expensive, specified by cycle life, and replaced on a maintenance schedule rather than when it fails. Used cable from a scheduled replacement has little resale; unused leftover reels from a project have real value.

We buy unused continuous-flex cable in reels, plus festoon and cable-carrier cable, VFD cable and flexible control cable from automation integrators.

Portable cord and welding cable

Portable cord and welding cable are the volume products in this category. Both are purchased in partial coils when the jacket is sound. Both are rejected when the jacket has hardened or cracked, because the flexibility that defines the product is gone.

Send photographs of the coil and the jacket surface. If there is visible cracking at the bend, that is the deciding factor.

How flexible cable is priced

Flex rating, conductor stranding, jacket compound and remaining length determine value. A 4/0 welding cable and a 4/0 THHN conductor contain similar copper but are priced very differently, because one is a flexible product and the other is building wire.

If you are unsure what you have, send a photograph of the jacket print. Most flexible cable is clearly marked with type, gauge, conductor count and voltage rating.

Specifications and buying notes

The table below reflects the constructions we see most often in South Carolina surplus. Variations exist between manufacturers, and the print on the jacket always governs.

Voltage rating300 V to 1,000 V depending on construction
TypesSOOW, SJOOW, welding cable, continuous-flex control cable, festoon cable
ApplicationsRobotics, cable carriers, portable tools, moving equipment
RatingsOil resistant, UV resistant, cold bend, continuous flex where marked
PackagingCoils of 100 to 500 ft; reels for larger constructions

What photographs help us price this fastest

A shot of the reel tag, a close-up of the jacket print, a clear view of the cut end, and one overview photograph of the whole inventory. Four images usually settle every question we have without a site visit.

Stacked wooden wire spools of black cable staged along a warehouse wall
Reels and spools as they arrive from plants, distributors and contractors.
Pallets of colored electrical wire spools in green, red, yellow and black inside an industrial building
Full and partial reels are both purchased, priced on construction and footage.

Reel tags, jacket print and cut ends tell us what the material is.

Questions about selling flexible cable

What makes cable continuous-flex rated?

Conductor stranding, jacket compound and a design tested to a stated number of bending cycles. Standard portable cord is flexible but not continuous-flex rated.

Do you buy used continuous-flex cable?

Generally only if it is unused surplus. Cable removed after service has an unknown cycle history and limited resale.

Can I sell a mixed lot of portable cord?

Yes. Mixed lots are quoted with a line-item breakdown so you can see which items carry the value.

How do I identify flexible cable without a label?

Jacket print, conductor stranding and jacket material. A photograph of the cut end and the print is usually enough.

Tell us what is on the reel

Send the basics and a few photographs. Reel tags, jacket markings and cut ends are usually enough for us to price the material without a site visit.

  • Manufacturer or brand, if legible
  • Wire type, gauge or size, and voltage rating
  • Approximate footage and number of spools
  • Photos of reel tags, jacket print and cable ends
