Wire buying

SOOW Cable Buyers in South Carolina

SOOW is the heavy-duty portable cord used for extension cords, temporary power and equipment drops. It is stocked in every industrial maintenance shop and left over in partial reels after projects.

Wire and cable only. Statewide South Carolina pickup, no obligation to sell.

SOOW from plants and contractors

Maintenance departments keep SOOW in the sizes their equipment needs, and when a machine is replaced the old cord stock stays on the shelf. Contractors doing temporary power work hold the same inventory. Both are purchased.

Common items are 12/3, 10/3, 10/4 and 8/4 SOOW for equipment, plus 18/3 and 16/3 SJOOW for smaller tools. Type W and type G cable, used for heavier temporary power, is purchased on the same basis.

What we look for in portable cord

Jacket condition is the whole story. Rubber cord hardens, cracks and absorbs oil; once the jacket cracks at a bend, the cord is no longer usable for its intended purpose. Coils stored indoors and kept clean are straightforward to quote.

Photograph the coil label and the jacket. If there is visible cracking, photograph that too so the offer reflects reality rather than a later dispute.

Partial coils and mixed cord stock

Partial coils of 50 feet or more are purchased when the type and gauge are identifiable. Mixed cord stock from a maintenance room is quoted as a lot with a line-item breakdown.

Because portable cord is compact, mixed lots ship economically, which makes smaller inventories worth collecting from anywhere in South Carolina.

What photographs help us price this fastest

A shot of the reel tag, a close-up of the jacket print, a clear view of the cut end, and one overview photograph of the whole inventory. Four images usually settle every question we have without a site visit.

Questions about selling soow cord

Do you buy SOOW with cracked jackets?

We evaluate it, but cracked or hardened jackets usually mean the cord no longer meets its intended use. The copper still has value, priced accordingly.

What is the difference between SOOW and SJOOW?

SJOOW is a 300 V junior cord with a smaller conductor stranding; SOOW is 600 V heavy-duty cord. Both are purchased, at different values.

Can I sell short lengths of portable cord?

Generally 50 feet and above, depending on gauge. Shorter pieces are usually combined into a mixed lot.

Do you buy Type W cable?

Yes. Type W single-conductor and multi-conductor temporary power cable is purchased, especially in 4/0 and 2/0 sizes.
